Ancona

Region's capital, a city of art and one of the largest ports in Italy, Ancona, with its thousand year old history, took its name from its promontory shaped elbow, called Ankon form ancient Greeks. It has many attractions, a beautiful center, with historic buildings and squares, including the amazing Piazza del Papa, wonderful beaches, the bay of Portonovo and the incredible nature of Monte Conero; an evident spirit of freedom and independence characterizes the Doric capital.
