The rolling hills of the Marche are well suited to the cultivation of several varieties of fruit trees; the rich and fertile soil of the hills surrounding the town of Corridonia (MC) is perfect for the creation of a thriving farm which gave new wealth to the area, creating a high-quality production and a wide variety of products. The organic plum tree has a very good ability to adapt to every soil, but, for a perfect result, it prefers hilly areas. The plum tree boasts a variety of origins, from the Sino-Japanese to European and American ones, anyway the one best suit to organic farming is the European variety, due to its ability to be productive in any environment and to withstand even the lowest temperatures. To create 100 grams of this excellent organic plum extra preserve Coop. Sociale San Michele Arcangelo uses 127 grams of fresh plum, very different from the jams offered by large scale distributors.

General Information: Preserves can be consumed au naturel or cooked. How to eat: Preserves are delicious spread on warm bread or on a buttered focaccia or cookies. They pair well also with meat, instead of sauces, and with hard and savoury cheeses. Due to the high percentage of fruit, extra preserves are scrumptious also enjoyed by itself, as a dessert. The preserves can be used also to make baked desserts: pies, cookies and cakes.
